Community Development Works Program

The Community Development Works program provides opportunities for families and local residents to participate in the planning and development of a range of projects, activities and events.

Community members identify issues that affect their lives and work together to develop strategies to enhance community involvement and create a safe and welcoming environment.

CDW (Community Development Works) Activities:

The Deception Bay Neighbourhood Centre participates in a number of local events and activities, including Under 5’s Family Fun Day, NAIDOC Celebrations, and Child and Family Alliance Meetings.

  • The Grandparents Group meet regularly at the Deception Bay Neighbourhood Centre.  Meet other Grandparents for a social morning chat about topics that affect you.  Share information and ideas.  Find out about community support, social activities and outings.
  • The Holiday Fun Day is an event for families in the Deception Bay area during school holidays. Families, grandparents, retirees and local residents assist with catering and cooking, art & craft activities and games for the children attending the Fun Day.
  • The Caravan Park Social Gatherings are held with the residents at the local caravan parks with assistance from the managers and other members of the community. The residents come together to enjoy an informal social gathering and assist with the cooking and children activities. The residents are provided information and resources regarding local community services.
  • Domestic and Family Violence Awareness Event. A candlelight ceremony is held annually in the community. Local residents are invited to attend and participate in this event.

If you would like to assist please contact Marilyn on 07 3204 2044
